Privacy Policy

Pixel Fishing is a game bot on Discord. It keeps the smallest amount of information it can and still remember your progress. This page says exactly what that is, where it lives, and how to have it removed.

Who we are

Pixel Fishing is made and run by an independent developer. For the purposes of data protection law, that developer is the controller of the information described here. You can reach us at support@pixelfishing.io.

What we store

Who you are

Your Discord user ID, the number Discord gives every account. This is how your progress is found.
Your Discord username, so leaderboards and shared catches can show a name rather than a number. It is refreshed from Discord each time you use a command, so it follows you if you change it.
The IDs of servers where you have used the bot, and when you first did, so the per-server leaderboards know who to include.
When you first used the bot.

What you have done in the game

The fish in your bag: the species, its weight, what it was worth and in which currency, which zone it came from, whether the hookset was perfect, and when. A fish leaves the bag when you sell it.
Your record book: for each species, how many times you have caught and tagged it, your best weight, where and when you set it, and whether it is a trophy.
Your money in each currency, your research credit in each sea, and the permits, gear and tackle you own.
Counts of casts, fish landed, species logged, species tagged and trophies.
For the league: which species you have landed in which server this season, and the points they scored there. A season is two months, and the rows stay after it ends so past seasons can still be read.
Where you are fishing and what you have tied on.
If you vote for the bot on Top.gg, the time of your last vote and how many times you have voted, so the reward is paid once per vote.

What passes through but is not kept

Every slash command arrives from Discord with more than the bot needs: the channel it was used in, your server nickname, your roles, your avatar and your language setting. The bot uses that to answer the one command in front of it and keeps none of it. A cast in progress is held in memory for the few seconds it lasts and is never written down.

What we do not store

Message content. The bot receives no message text. It works through slash commands and buttons; it cannot read what you or anyone else types.
Your email address, real name, phone number or payment details. There is nothing to buy, so there is nothing to pay with.
Direct messages, voice, or anything else about your Discord account beyond the ID and username above.
Anything at all about servers you have not used the bot in.

Why we store it

To run the game. A fishing game with no memory of what you have caught is not a game. Your ID identifies your progress, your username appears on leaderboards, and the server IDs scope those leaderboards to the people you play with. In legal terms, we process this information because it is necessary to provide the service you asked for by using the bot.

There is no advertising, no profiling, and none of it is sold or shared with anyone for any other purpose.

Where it is stored

The bot and its database run on Railway, in the United States. If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Union, that means the information above is transferred to and stored in the United States. Railway acts as our processor under its own terms and safeguards.

Server logs may record your Discord user ID next to an error or a vote, so that problems can be traced. They never contain message content. Railway keeps logs for a limited time and discards them automatically.

Who else sees it

Other players see your username and your scores where you appear on a leaderboard, any catch you choose to post with /show, and any record book you choose to share.
Discord carries everything the bot says to you, as it does for every bot. Discord's own privacy policy covers that.
Railway runs the servers and the database. They can technically access what is stored there, as any host can.
Top.gg, if you vote, tells us your Discord user ID so the reward can be paid to you. What Top.gg keeps about your vote is covered by Top.gg's privacy policy.

Nobody else. We do not sell data and we do not share it for advertising.

How long we keep it

For as long as you play, and afterwards until you ask for it to be deleted. We are a small project and do not currently expire idle accounts; if that changes, this page will say so before it happens.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of everything we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Your username corrects itself the next time you use a command. Everything else, ask us. If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Union you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority; in the UK that is the Information Commissioner's Office.

Deleting your data

Ask, and it is deleted: all of it, including your record book, permanently. Contact us in the support server or by email at the address below with your Discord user ID. We will do it within 30 days at the latest, usually much sooner, and confirm when it is done.

Removing the bot from a server does not delete anything, because your progress belongs to you rather than to that server.

Children

Discord requires everyone using it to be at least 13, and older in some countries. Pixel Fishing is not intended for anyone below that age. If we learn that an account belongs to someone too young to use Discord, we delete its data.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will announce it in the support server.
